Wow

Eddie just sang "Throw Your Arms Around Me" before the concert started, and I got to hear it.  I’d give almost anything to be at that show right now.  Thanks J.

I thought it couldn’t get better than last night when Mike played the national anthem after YL.  I was wrong.

 Beautiful.

This Guy Is Cool

Kevin Hall has a unique story.  Check it out.

"People will always see me as deaf and black," Hall said through a sign language interpreter. "I don’t think people will see me as just another golfer. It just won’t happen. That’s my story. I guess it will always be my story. But the positive thing about it is that I can use my story to inspire other people, to help them see that they can do what they want, and to help them pursue their dreams.

The Land of Societal Parasites?

Filed under: Uncategorized — kenlie @ 11:25 pm

I spent some time in Baton Rouge this week, and I’m going back this evening. I’ve been there 4 or 5 times in the last year, and I have to say – I like Baton Rouge.

I don’t love Louisiana overall, nor do I plan to make a life for myself in a state where bugs are as big as my head and 85 degrees is a cold front. But I’ve been to cities all over the world, and Baton Rouge is a place I’d miss if I never went there again.

In many ways, it reminds me of Oklahoma City. That might be why I like it. It’s big enough to find a place to play putt-putt (I need to do that tonight or tomorrow) but it’s not overwhelming. The people are friendly, and many are educated.

The city has an airport, a couple of malls, Super Target and about 10 scrapbook stores…Contrary to the opinion of some friends; I’m pretty easy to please.

My friend, Dustin, grew up near Baton Rouge and has lived there (or close) his whole life. When I met him years ago, I didn’t know why he loved it so much. But now I see. With my family close enough to see often and a few close friends, I’m sure I’d love it as well.

Crime happens everywhere, and Baton Rouge is seeing more of it since the storm, but it’s still a nice city. And in my estimation, the majority of the city is full of people who are anything but societal parasites.

NOK Hornets

Filed under: Uncategorized — kenlie @ 11:27 pm

I think this is one of the rare times RPD and I are in agreement – the Hornets will likely become the Oklahoma City Hornets.

I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to stay in New Orleans. The area was devastated. And while I didn’t love the area before, I certainly don’t like it now.

I’ve lived in OKC, and spent enough time in New Orleans to get a feel for both. Neither city would be at the top of my list, but in choosing, I’d choose OKC as well. OKC is cleaner, and they’re ahead of the game (in developing a nice downtown area.)

While I do believe that George Shinn is a two-faced jackass, I don’t blame him for wanting to stay in the new state-of-the-art arena.

I think it’s great that people went out and showed support for the team last year. Do I think Oklahoma will always be so supportive of an NBA team? Absolutely not.

But is New Orleans prepared to support the Hornets? I doubt it. If life was fair, they’d get the chance. But lets be realistic. Their fans, loyal or not, probably need to find a home first.

I think it’s unfair that New Orleans may lose the Hornets, but that’s nothing considering what so many have lost already.

They’ll have their loveable losers, the Saints, which in my opinion, is much more important to the city.

I’m Going To Read Spence’s New Book

Filed under: Uncategorized — kenlie @ 11:28 pm

…And I had to post my latest autograph.  I’ve been thinking I’d post this autograph for a while, as I’ve already posted my Gerry Spence autographed photo.

I love this note, which is inside the book cover of his book, Win Your Case: How To Present, Persuade, and Prevail – Every Place Every Time:

Take It For What It Is

Filed under: Uncategorized — kenlie @ 11:27 pm

I’m excited to see one of my favorite books come alive on the big screen. The Da Vinci Code, which I didn’t read immediately, is in my opinion, an incredible thriller. I will probably see the movie during the first week it’s in the theaters.

There has been an exorbitant amount of controversy surrounding the book, and it’s back in the mainstream because the movie comes out everywhere May 19.

I’m looking forward to the movie for the same reason I’ve looked forward to so many other movies in the past – entertainment.

I want to remind those of you who are mad about the book/movie that if you’re looking to purchase it, you can find it (in addition to the best sellers section) in the FICTION section. Dan Brown is welcome, as we all are, to hold any opinion he wishes. But I look forward to the movie for it’s entertainment value.

I’d also like to point out that many authors are writing books to debunk Brown’s theories.  Just this weekend, I was in Oklahoma for my younger sister’s graduation, and  my mom bought 3 copies of a book (at my sister’s Baptist church)  called Decoding The Da Vinci Code.  These authors are bringing in profits at the expense of Brown.  And while that is fine, I implore you all to take the book for what it is.

I Will Not Make Apologies

This illegal immigration issue is out of control. Illegals are breaking the law. How can we expect them to become law abiding citizens if they start off disrespecting our legal system.

White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Filed under: Uncategorized — kenlie @ 3:24 am

I have to say…Bush was a good sport at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
The funniest part I saw, was when Bush was with his double, and he said “This ruggedly handsome guy next to me is Steve Bridges” I don’t remember the guys name, but I liked it.
Back to Colbert. Though I thought some things were out of line, he was pretty funny. I liked the part when he welcomed the republicans, the democrats and John McCain. I also enjoyed his picking on Scalia.
Overall, Colbert was entertaining.
