Big Love
Most of you read Andrew Sullivan’s blog already; if you don’t, you should. On his site, is an article posted by Slate, on Big Love (i.e. polygamy.)
I’ve been in love once. But I’ve had a few serious, relatively long-term boyfriends.
Even during the times I was dating and unsure if it was the right thing for me, I still would have been jealous to know my boyfriend was seeing/sleeping with someone else. Finding out is one of the worst feelings I’ve EVER had.
I cannot begin to understand how ANY woman would take part in a marriage of polygamy. I understand, in theory, why a guy, who is clearly an A-hole would take part. But the idea that there is a woman on the planet who would tolerate another woman with her husband is beyond any reasoning for me.
But there are women who do it. It’s inane, and it disgusts me just to think about how unhappy I would be. What I don’t understand is how these women don’t know there’s more to life than being part of a harem.

A Friend Sent Me A Link To A Cool Site
I think it’s safe to assume that music has moved all of us at one point. I posted a new link under the check out these sites tab, to the left.
If music has ever moved you, write about it.
To The Psuedo-Intellectuals Who Think Living in the US is “Annoying or Upsetting”
Let me remind you how grateful you should be that you were born in a country where this kind of thing doesn’t happen.
Not to mention how thankful you should be that because you were born here you’re not one of the millions of people risking their lives to become an illegal alien in this country.
I enjoy traveling the world as much as everyone else, and I hope I continue to have those opportunities.
But I’m grateful to live here…And if you’re not, fine.
But try to remember that in spite of the problems we face as a nation, we’ve got it better than a lot of other places in the world!

Dream Weekend
A Pearl Jam show in London follwed by a few days in Scotland – playing golf and some other things…Does anyone agree with me?
Healthcare
Not to sound overly liberal here, but I think healthcare should be given to all Americans. The (healthy) rich already have it, the poor already have it…The people who don’t are the same people that always get the shaft in this country.
I was talking with a friend last night who said it’s inhumane not to give criminals healthcare in prison. My response was that it is pathetic that prisoners receive medical treatment at no cost while the average Joe, working full-time or close without benefits is forced to rack up huge debts to pay for healthcare.
His response was “well, the system isn’t perfect.”
I’m tired of hearing this as a justification for ignoring the people who take responsibility for themselves… I know what some of you must be thinking about my views.
What can I say except I don’t blindly follow any party?
Here’s my problem: Any irresponsible 19, 25, 30 year old woman, who doesn’t work, can become pregnant and receive Medicaid. Once she has the kid, she starts receiving a check from the government until the kid turns 18. This is in addition to her food stamps, breaks on rent, etc.
But one does not qualify for Medicaid if they have a job which allows them to pull in 12k per year. That is horseshit.
I’ve said it before – you don’t get a reward, in this country, for working and following the rules, etc.
With that said, I think we can only make excuses so much. My goal, in getting an education, is so I don’t have to depend on the government for healthcare.
But my taxes are largely wasted anyway. So I think, at this time, the government should restructure and give healthcare (with a co-pay) to everyone.

I Don’t Live In Oklahoma Anymore, But…
I’ll be there for my little sister’s college graduation. And who will be there the same day? Our President!
Hey RPD, we should go and try to get his autograph!

They Have Overtaken C-Span???
Wow, you’ve got to be kidding! I just flipped to C-Span and now I see an immigration rally in D.C.??? That’s horse shit!!!
Now I’m struggling to underdstand what these hispanics are saying on U.S. national TV.
(And I’m trying to learn Spanish so no one tell me to learn it. But I shouldn’t have to just so I can understand what these people are screaming about on C-Span.)

Try It
One of the students I tutor after school is starting Creative Writing with me this week. We’re going to do poetry first. I’m going to put an example here then someone try it, okay?
Type of poem:
ACROSTIC
In Acrostic poems, the first letters of each line are aligned vertically to form a word.
The word often is the subject of the poem.
An example:
Elegantly and efficiently shaped
Good to eat
Great fun to find at Easter
Smooth shelled

Happy To Be Wrong
I thought Goosen would win it before it started. But of course, everyone who knows me knows I love Phil. I’m glad he won. He’s so cool…:)
